Cheongeo-dong, Namwon-si..
Jeollabuk-do This garden has a legend that the Altair and the Weaver meet each other here on July 7th (lunar calendar) by crossing the Ojak Bridge. In old times, they dug a pond -- symbolizing the Milky Way -- by attracting the clear water from the Yocheon River, and built the Ojak Bridge by linking the four rainbow-shaped piers. Afterwards, Chung Cheol (an ancient scholar) constructed three islets symbolizing legendary gurus with mysterious power. They planted zinnias and bamboos in the Bongrae and the Bangjang islet, respectively and constructed the pavilion on the Yeongju Islet. Since the Chunhyang Story was set here, numerous important relics have been established. The Gwanghall Garden blends well with the bluish Yocheon River in front of its gate and the Seungwol Bridge curving over it, thus attracting many tourists.
